About Us

This project was culminated from a desire to increase City of Las Cruces and New Mexico State University collaborations to improve the quality of life for the people of Las Cruces. Former Mayor Rueben Smith, former NMSU President Jay Gogue, College of Agriculture and Home Economics Dean Jerry Schickedanz, City of Las Cruces Community Development Staff Member Cyndi Rhodes, and Department of Family and Consumer Sciences Department Head Ann Vail developed the original proposal. Senator Pete Domenici and Representative Joe Skeen secured funding for the project through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
