Personal safety is of utmost importance. Do not risk your own safety or that of your clients by staying in an unsafe situation. Contact your immediate supervisor, program coordinator or department head if you have questions about security or related issues. Notify the state program coordinator if you think there are issues that should be addressed more broadly.

There is a wide variety of reasons that people act aggressively, violently or in an intimidating manner. Aggressive behavior may be triggered by frustration with a perceived lack of options. It may be used to intimidate others so that the aggressor gets his/her own way. Or, it may be used to demand attention or recognition for a client’s problems or needs.
