Maintaining The Home

Owning a home is the single biggest investment for most people. Good maintenance protects and increases the value of the home. This section can help you identify and fix small problems before they become big and expensive. The maintenance process begins with understanding preventive action, having a basic tool kit, knowing about cleaning products, and organizing storage to find things easily. Interior maintenance includes household systems (heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical), walls and floor coverings, and furnishings and appliances. Exterior aspects include the foundation, walls, roof and landscaping. Other factors affect the value or add to the enjoyment of living in the home. These include home safety, conservation and environmental practices, pest control and improving accessibility for those with impairment.
